Your Ideal Pokémon Tales: Z-A Super Form Based on the Astrological Sign
The return of Super Forms in Pokémon Legends: Z-A has sparked widespread excitement within the fandom. From the gradual reveal of newcomers before the title's launch, to trainers forming firm opinions on the full lineup of new Megas, there's plenty for fans to anticipate.
With many of the Super Forms showcasing unique designs that highlight their personalities, one thought came to mind: What's the best way to link this with astrology? This list is based on a mix of vibes, sign stereotypes, and personal experience.
Aries – Mega Camerupt
To be truthful, Houndour's evolution was nearly selected for this fire sign, as they are the Super Form and zodiac symbol that inspire the greatest apprehension. But, a Mega Houndoom appears as constantly furious, which doesn't match the Ram's energy, known for being fun, cheerful, and spontaneous. This makes the Ram far more similar to Mega Camerupt, which solely spews lava when angered. Stay on the good side of either and benefit from a powerful ally; if you cross them, prepare to get burned.
Taurus – Super Heracross
Much like a loyal Bull, the steadfast Heracross, both in its regular and Super Form, has assisted numerous players in Legends: Z-A. Though trustworthy, both the Pokémon and a Taurus are also Fighting types, and – whether it's their companion or a strong opinion – will stand up for their position unwaveringly. The thing about Super Heracross that recalls most of my Bull-sign companions, though, is its unabashed love of snacks. Many previous official descriptions note their fondness for sweet sap and how it employs its horn to collect it all, which is true Taurus energy.
Gemini – Super Medicham
Observe this total queen. It's impossible to convince me this Pokémon is not the soul of any gathering, providing an endless stream of chatter to those who wants to hear. Much like an enrapturing, gregarious Gemini, it's very easy to imagine Super Medicham captivating an whole Wild Zone with their stories. This Pokémon's official description also mentions its ability to foresee an opponent's next moves, which seems very similar to a socially-savvy Gemini.
Cancer – Super Manectric
Cancer is widely considered as the most sensitive member of the astrological wheel, a passionate sign famous for frequently getting absorbed in their feelings. Per the official info, Super Evolution fills the creature with a “tremendous quantity of energy, but it's too much for Manectric to fully control,” which sounds a lot like a typical Cancer crash-out. It is also known for its capability to create a storm cloud over its own head – and if there’s one thing a Cancer is likely to do, it’s rain on their good time.
The Lion – Super Starmie
Well, did you think I was planning to pick the lion Pokémon for the king of the zodiac? Besides the fact that it would be far too obvious, Leo is obviously Mega Starmie, the star whose legs just went viral for being too fabulous (or horrifying, based on your taste). Players couldn’t look away from the purple sea star, and that’s exactly the same energy a Leo brings to the scene. This Pokémon is also rumored to be broadcasting signals from its red core out into the cosmos, and it’s just like a Lion to be putting on a performance, albeit for extraterrestrials.
The Maiden – Super Victreebel
The ever-prepared and perpetually-anxious Virgo is perfectly represented in Super Victreebel, the Super Form with perpetual digestive issues. The sign famous for being endearingly judgmental is strongly reflected across this creature's entire evolutionary chain, from a perpetually surprised face like a Maiden when you tell them you lack a retirement plan, to its upside-down visage that’s similar to the emoji a Virgo posts to the group chat when all says they want to “be spontaneous” rather than creating a plan.
The Scales – Mega Audino
Observe this sweet, empathetic creature, who uses the sensors on its auditory organs to detect how others are emotionally by their pulse. Consistently compassionate – occasionally to a detriment – and trying to keep the harmony, there are many Scales who would probably appreciate Mega Audino’s skills. However, let’s be honest, it would likely just make them stress even more about others.
The Scorpion – Super Banette
Banette is a creature with a surprisingly sad backstory: Discarded as a toy, it became consciousness through sheer hatred and swore retribution on its former owner. According to the Pokédex, Super Evolution, “increases its vindictiveness.” That sounds exactly like several discussions I’ve had with my scary Scorpio acquaintances. A Scorpion loves cosmic justice and comeuppance, making them the ideal match with Super Banette.
The Archer – Super Hawlucha
Both Super Hawlucha and Sagittarians are constantly putting on a show. Being a Sagittarius myself, the amount of times I’ve called myself some version of a “silly little entertainer” is innumerable. The most flamboyant and most attention-seeking Super Form, its Pokédex entry even mentions how it “flexes to display its power.” I would do the very same thing if I had some kind of Mega evolved form, making Mega Hawlucha the most apt Sagittarius counterpart I can imagine.
Capricorn – Super Absol
Were you aware that a Mega Absol has the power to foresee calamities in advance? That gives the identical vibe as a Capricorn, who often consistently believe they’re correct. Interestingly, much like a prophetic Super Absol, they frequently are. It’s also the absolute first Super Form that trainers encounter in Legends: Z-A – typical of a Capricorn to join the ground floor of the Mega trend.
Aquarius – Mega Chandelure
Detached air sign Water Bearer is possibly the non-flame sign that is closest to a flame symbol – its sister sign is Leo, and there are numerous jokes about Sagittarius and Water Bearer being chaotic partners in crime. Super Chandelure's dual Ghost/Fire category fits perfectly with this, and the Mega’s general daunting presence is also very Water Bearer. If you weren’t already convinced, the Super Form's description says it “absorbs hatred and transforms it into power.” If that fails to perfectly {encaps
