Local Law Enforcement
Around 50 cars have been smeared with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's city of Hanau close to Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.
Vehicles, building surfaces and mailboxes were vandalized, sometimes with prohibited symbols, they stated in a release.
Law enforcement state they were notified late on Wednesday evening, when a resident discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been covered with a reddish fluid.
The substance had been applied in the form of a Nazi symbol, they stated.
Officers then found many other marked cars and residential walls in the nearby vicinity.
These symbols are prohibited in Germany under regulations prohibiting the public display of Nazi-era symbols.
Law enforcement say early analysis show the fluid was probably human blood.
"Currently there is no indication as to its origin; authorities are not yet informed of any harm in connection with the occurrence," they commented.
City officials stated they were attempting "to resolve the mystery" and have requested to the public for information.
A high-ranking official stated the vandalism rendered him stunned and needed to be solved rapidly.
"This act affects the center of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the right-wing attack five years ago," he stated on online, recalling the killing of nine people by a gunman targeting individuals of immigrant origin in five years prior.
