The Denver Nuggets star earned the NBA's MVP title in 2021, 2022, and 2024.

Triple NBA MVP Jokic endured a "devastating" injury to his knee while the Denver Nuggets lost by a score of 147-123 at the Miami Heat.

Jokic was hurt late in the first half following an inadvertent collision with team-mate Jones.

Jones came down on the footwear of Jokic, and he immediately went down to the ground clutching his leg.

The star, who leads the league this season in rebounds and dimes, had a score of 21 points and eight assists in the matchup before incurring the injury.

The player is scheduled for an scan on Tuesday to evaluate the severity of the injury.

"Immediately, he knew he was hurt," stated Nuggets coach David Adelman.

"This happens in professional sports. Any player that gets hurt, that's gut-wrenching, particularly a player as special as he is. More information will come on Tuesday."

"We will continue as a team. Clearly, currently, I'm more worried just about Jokic personally and the letdown of facing a situation of that nature."
