The English squad will commence their 2028 European Championship campaign at the Etihad Stadium, assuming they secure the anticipated passage for a tournament hosted across the bulk of Britain and the Ireland.

City’s stadium has not hosted an English men’s fixture since eight years ago, when the Turkish team were defeated 2-1 in a warm-up game, but is expected to host the national team for their inaugural game on June 10, 2028.

The English side are scheduled to play their final two group matches at Wembley, but, in the event of winning Group B, their round of 16 match would take place at Newcastle’s St James’ Park. Securing the runner-up spot would mean starting the elimination stage at Everton’s ground.

Each host nation’s squad will enter the preliminary stage; two guaranteed slots will be reserved for any that fail to qualify for the finals through that route.

Locations and Knockout Stage

The Birmingham venue and Tottenham Hotspur Stadium finalize the nine host stadiums. All will hold at least one playoff fixture, with the last eight played at the national stadium of each host.

The draw for the qualifiers will be conducted in Belfast, which was excluded as a tournament location last year when it emerged the proposed venue could not be upgraded in time, on December 6, 2026.
