The Mighty Nein's Opening Sequence Chose the Wrong Critical Role Track

The Mighty Nein, the newest animated adventure by the beloved role-playing group, unveiled an exciting introductory sequence. It features the beloved cast of misfits, outcasts, and rogues fighting hard and making their mark, while teasing at multiple heart-wrenching personal histories for key figures including the voice actor's wizard Caleb, and Travis Willingham's orc warlock, Fjord.

Overall, the intro looks amazing. However, I felt that an element was missing in the music selection.

The intro uses "Welcome to the Continent", a truly stellar song composed by producer and singer Colm McGuinness. It's a track originating from the soundtrack album of that title, the second one released by the production company's music division their music brand. It's a wonderful nostalgic choice, and I suspect that devotees of the sequel series will love its inclusion.

Personally, The series' opening doesn't quite capture the excitement and excitement that accompanied the show's actual-play adventure. "Your Turn to Roll", written by musician Jason Charles Miller, was an instant classic for me when it was first revealed in that year, and it only got better when cast member the performer wrote words to the melody for the series' animated intro in the later year.

Including singing from Ashley Johnson, Laura Bailey, Travis Willingham, as well as Riegel himself, the song was memorable and fun. At the time, I hadn't seen the second campaign yet, but it was so infectious that I still saved it on my device. It's a song that knows how to get you pumped before you dive into an episode of fantasy hijinks.

The Mighty Nein's intro with "Welcome to Wildemount" fails to hit the right notes for me. It's a grand piece of music, but from what I know of the group, I feel that its mood is a little off.

Naturally, Critical Role has already said that the animated show will have some changes and differences from the actual-play campaign. An adjusted mood for its intro appears as among these.

The Mighty Nein will be available to watch on the streaming service from Nov. 19. If you can't wait before that, or want a head start to learn about the personas of Critical Role's Campaign 2, the actual play are accessible on Spotify and YouTube.
