Supporters Call for Detainment of Individual Who Touched Ariana Grande
Devoted fans of the pop star are demanding that a man who breached a barricade and grabbed the performer during Thursday's Wicked: For Good debut be arrested or removed from Singapore.
A circulating video reveals the individual from Australia pushing past media personnel and rushing toward Grande while the cast made its way down a promenade accompanied by supporters.
Fellow actress Cynthia Erivo immediately wrested the surprised performer away from Mr Wen, who was seen being escorted out of the premiere by event staff.
Mr Wen shared on Instagram recently that he was "free after being taken in", though legal records indicated that he was due to be present on the next day. It is unknown if he was faced legal action.
History of Disruptions
This is not the first time for Mr Wen, who labels himself a "Controversial Figure", has disrupted a performance. His Instagram profile contains clips of him interrupting other celebrity events, including jumping on stage at the pop singer's Sydney performance in recently and in a similar way during The Chainsmokers event in the city last December.
"Measures must be taken taken against him as this is evidently a punishable act," wrote an Instagram user, in a message to a video Mr Wen posted of his behavior.
"You've done this repeatedly... how are you not behind bars?" a different Instagram user wrote.
Followers Voice Worry Over Grande's Past Trauma
Several supporters blamed Mr Wen for "causing further distress" Grande, who had discussed experiencing PTSD after a devastating incident at the finale of her May 2017 performance in Manchester, resulting in the death of 22 people and wounding numerous individuals.
"The star has endured numerous terrifying experiences... including the Manchester tragedy, and you believed breaching security was amusing?" wrote a further message on Instagram.
Several supporters also criticised security officers at the Thursday event for not being vigilant enough; while different individuals requested social media platforms to remove Mr Wen's videos.
