Slot Insists He Feels Secure and Has The Club's Support Following PSV Loss

The Liverpool head coach admitted that it was natural for questions to be asked about his position following a further convincing defeat versus the Dutch champions.

The Reds suffered their ninth defeat in 12 matches, marking the team's worst streak since being demoted in the 1953-54 season.

They were dominated by the Eredivisie title holders on a difficult evening at Anfield.

“I feel secure, I am OK, I've received a lot of backing from above,” the coach commented.

“It's important to turn it around and secure a win obviously but when you're working as a coach and underperforming then it's typical that doubts arise.”

He continued, “I am OK with my position. It is not the first time I’ve been in a difficult position but it is about time that we improved our results.”

Conversations with Club Management

When asked to provide details on his conversations with the club's leadership, the head coach explained:

“There's regular dialogue. They assist for the squad and for me and we have those conversations but they don’t call me every single minute each day to say they trust me.”

He added, “During our regular discussions I perceive the belief. But I haven’t spoken to them after this game so far so we'll see.”

Familiar Problems and Squad Response

The manager highlighted recurring failings from his Liverpool side in their European defeat, specifically wasted chances and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, player Curtis Jones was more forthright in his view of the team's situation.

“I don’t have the solutions. Honestly, I do not. I’m saying that to all,” the midfielder said.

“It is not good enough. I don’t even need to wait to consider it. I’m past getting mad inside. I've reached the stage currently where I just don’t have the words.”

He continued, “It's tough because I play for the side I follow. I’m a fan, and I’ve seen Liverpool all my life.”

“In recent memory, I've not seen a Liverpool team enduring a period like this with results so bad.”

Jones stated, “But we continue to wear the crest on our shirts. And until it is taken away, we will always compete.”

“Our aim is to get this team return to its rightful place, demonstrate to all once more what Liverpool stands for and why people call it the best team in the planet.”

“However currently, we're in trouble and we have to turn it around.”
