Former Physician Charged with Sexual Assault Charges Against Thirty-Eight Patients

Prosecutors report that a ex- doctor stands accused of carrying out assaults involving thirty-eight individuals who were patients.

Details of the Grave Allegations

The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of numerous acts of sexual assault – comprising acts against children younger than 13 – spanning the period from 2017 and 2021.

One deputy chief prosecutor commented, “Legal teams have worked at length to support a thorough and intricate police inquiry, meticulously examining the evidence to establish that there is sufficient evidence to bring the case to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”

Scope of the Police Inquiry

These allegations follow what police described as a “complex investigation” into reported sexual offences at medical facilities: the Royal Stoke university hospital and a facility in Dudley.

The defendant will appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on 20 January.

List of Charges

The charging documents said the forty-five charges he is charged with:

  • Fifteen counts of assault.
  • 17 counts of penetrative assault.
  • 9 counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
  • 3 counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
  • One count of attempted penetrative assault.
