Stateside entertainer Pat Finn, who appeared in beloved programs like Friends, "Seinfeld" and The Middle, has passed away at the age of 60.

The skilled improv artist died at home in Los Angeles, California recently having undergone treatment for a cancer diagnosis since 2022, as reported by news outlets.

"Pat considered no one a stranger - only friends he hadn't encountered," his family shared in a statement.

They continued that he had "embraced life completely - with happiness and energy".

A Prolific Career on Screen

Finn's first television role was in the George Wendt Show in 1995, where he appeared as the lead character's sibling.

He also had a regular part on Murphy Brown between 1995 and 1997.

He played the part of the character Joe Mayo in the show Seinfeld in 1998, playing a social organizer known to delegate burdensome jobs to his guests.

Throughout the late 1990s and early 2000s, he appeared as a guest star on numerous hit series, including:

  • The King of Queens
  • "Friends"
  • "That '70s Show"
  • House, M.D.

His most famous role for his portrayal of Bill Norwood in The Middle, appearing throughout eight series from 2011 to 2018.

His film credits are It's Complicated and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups (2012).

Beyond the Screen

Away from his acting parts, Finn was an improv performer and served as an educator at the University of Colorado, where he was a professor.

He was a member of a comedy group of six known as Beer Shark Mice.

"Pat coached, befriended and mentored numerous pupils during his career and it would be difficult to find a person anywhere who has an unkind word to say about him," his family wrote.

Paying homage, fellow actor Richard Kind noted there was "not a more kind, gentle, or funny, down to earth person you could encounter".

"Consistently upbeat, making those around him better and funnier. An excellent dad and person," he posted on social media.

Pat Finn is remembered by his wife Donna, his three kids, and his parents and siblings.
